Conditions Report: Revelstoke Jan 5, 2017 | Mountain Sledder

Yet another amazing week of blower powder conditions right up to the handlebars.
Thankfully, the snow around Revelstoke has set up and created a great base to be able to actually get around and not get stuck every 30 feet. The sun has been out the last few days with this cold snap and the conditions have been really good if you are dressed for it. The main riding areas are getting tracked out but there are still lots of pockets left and the snow is good when you drop down into the meadows and trees where it is less wind-affected. Alpine slopes have had a lot of wind and are definitely showing variable conditions.
Groomers have finally caught up to the holiday traffic and the trails are smooth again from parking lot to cabin on both Boulder and Frisby. We are expecting some light precipitation starting Thursday and likely carrying into Saturday, followed by mixed sun and cloud for the weekend.
There is a lot of uncertainty on the incoming low pressure systems which are approaching from the north and the south, so weather forecasts will be more accurate closer to the weekend. All in all, it is shaping up for a great weekend to get out and ride.
Make sure you check www.avalanche.ca for the daily bulletin for your riding area!
