Touchy 2014? | Mountain Sledder

| On 05, Jan 2014

We have seen the growing trends here in Western Canada over the past few weeks and it’s not overly promising for a bright future…
With the recent snow loads we have so desperately needed, “increased risk” seems to be the new trendy talk.  As our fresh snow gets tracked out, our eagerness to reach out and explore to find our proverbial “fix” is the start of our own demise.  It seems repetitious to say “be careful” out there, so I’ll just leave it at this…
Play smart.  Limit your exposure.  Just because you are in the trees does not mean you are safe.  Just because there are tracks on a slope does not make it safe.  And above all else, be comfortable and confident in your group, and their abilities to make decisions with terrain negotiation and rescue techniques.
