Conditions Report: Revelstoke Dec 1, 2016

Welcome back to the weekly Revelstoke Conditions Reports, provided to you by La Niña Sled Camp.
I’m pretty excited to be bringing you the good news on the first report of the season! We are unloading and riding from 4km on the main trails in Revelstoke. The snow is absolutely fantastic and as long as you are above 1800m, you are pretty much good to go. The snow below this elevation is still a little bit shallow but rideable, you just have to be a little lighter on those pow turns.
Avalanche conditions have also turned on with the winter conditions we are experiencing up top. There is a nasty rain crust that is buried quite deep and may be associated with some faceting. Make sure you are aware of the conditions where you are riding, as they are quite different from mountain range to mountain range.
We probed 305cm on Frisbee Ridge this week at 2000m elevation and there was over 80cm of storm snow from just the past week! There is more in the forecast so I expect it is going to be great moving into the weekend. Please be sure to check www.avalanche.ca for the bulletin for your riding area and more information. And remember it is early season, so double check all your gear and change ALL your batteries out on your transceiver and test your friends. It’s a great time to get everyone’s head back in the game!
