SPOT has recently teamed up with DeLorme and developed a fully functional GPS / Messaging tool. This is a really really cool piece as it cuts down on the amount of gear we all carry. I personally pack super light with usually only a 18L pack, but I always carry both a GPS and a SPOT. 2 in 1 sounds good to me!
This NEW system allows you to not only have pre-programmed text messages, but allows you to use the GPS touch screen technology to develop one way text messages that you can send via satellite! This means not only can you send a text, but you can update social media tools like Facebook, Twitter… CRAZY!!
