Sicamous, BC

Sicamous, though commonly regarded as the little sibling of just down-the-road Revelstoke, is rapidly becoming recognized as the legitimate sledding utopia that it is.

Consider this: Despite playing host to significantly fewer riders, Sicamous offers twice as many groomed and managed areas as Revelstoke, each boasting its own warm-up chalet. The trails are regularly groomed to perfection, and three of the areas can be reached from trailheads just on the edge of town itself.

Surrounded by lakes, Sicamous is frequently drowned in bottomless lake-effect snowfall. And the area flaunts fun and navigable terrain that begs to be explored. The region has something for families and expert riders alike, and its central locale is only a short haul from a mittful of other riding areas in the Shuswap area as well.

Though the town itself is small, it’s had a lot of practice making visitors feel welcome by way of the thousands that visit there each summer for the boating season. It certainly has all the amenities that you’ll need for a sled trip, just don’t expect any big-city flair—like a booming nightlife. But if epic shredding is your priority, chances are you’re probably okay with that.
