Polaris Partners with PIEPS to Offer Exclusive Polaris Avalanche Airbag
Polaris has partnered with avalanche safety gear manufacturer, PIEPS, to make a Polaris avalanche airbag available to mountain riders. Two new avalanche transceivers from PIEPS will also be available through the Polaris network of dealers.

The Polaris branded avalanche airbag is a PIEPS JetForce SC20L, which uses electronic jet-fan technology to deploy the airbag instead of the more traditional compressed gas system.
According to Polaris, the airbag “uses the new Alpride E1 airbag system, which is electrically powered by cutting-edge super capacitors. This powerful, fan-based system charges via both a micro USB and AA batteries, and is housed in a 20-liter pack that stores essential avalanche safety equipment as well as the gear used on a day in the backcountry.
“The system is compact and simple to use, with a single on/off switch and blinking status indicator lights that can be visibly checked from the outside of the pack while it is being worn.”
The JetForce SC20L has 20L of storage capacity.
Battery-powered, jet-fan airbag technology is the latest used to deploy avalanche airbags, having just reached the market in the last several years. It has been proven to be an effective method for airbag deployment over the last few years, and the technology has found its way into the avalanche airbags of several different manufacturers including Black Diamond, Arc’Teryx and a Klim branded PIEPS.
The Polaris JetForceSC20L uses jet-fan technology.
In addition to the new Polaris avalanche airbag, two new PIEPS avalanche transceivers will be available this winter through the Polaris network of dealers. The PIEPS Pro BT and PIEPS Powder BT transceivers offer bluetooth connectivity along with all the other essential modern transceiver functionality available at the moment.
