Arctic Cat Recalls 2700 Snowmobiles Due to Clutch Issue
Some 2700 snowmobiles are affected by an Arctic Cat recall, due to an impact hazard from a clutch issue.
Arctic Cat Recall
The recall affects all 2017 models of Arctic Cat 9000 Turbo snowmobile and 2018 models of Arctic Cat 6000, 7000, 8000 and 9000 models with VINs within the range of 100001 through 102133 or 808003 through 808241.
According to notice served to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in the U.S., “The snowmobile drive clutch can fracture and fragments can escape the snowmobile shielding, posing an impact hazard.”
Although there has only been one reported instance of the failure and no injuries as a result, Arctic Cat is taking the necessary measures to protect the safety of its customers by recalling the affected vehicles.
The powersports manufacturer has requested that “consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact an Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer to schedule a free repair.” Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail.
It is unclear at this time what role TEAM Rapid Response II and/or TEAM Rapid Reaction clutches factor into the recall.
Second Recall of 2017 for Arctic Cat
This latest recall by Arctic Cat is significantly smaller than one made in January of 2017, which affected some 20,700 vehicles.
This issue stemmed from a faulty fuel tank, which could crack, causing fuel to leak into the engine compartment, posing a fire hazard.
The recall involved model year 2007, 2008, and 2009 Arctic Cat snowmobiles, including F models, Jaguar and Jaguar Z1 1100 models, Bearcat Z1 XT models, T500 and T570 models, TZ1 and TZ1 Turbo models, and Z1 1100 and Z1 1100 Turbo models, according to the CPSC.
Arctic Cat received reports of 918 incidents, including 6 reports of fires, with the affected snowmobiles. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
