2021 Ski-Doo Summit Lineup

We had a feeling that the 2021 Ski-Doo Summit lineup would see more 2-stroke turbo 850 E-TEC engines made available for model year 2021. After all, the 2020.5 Ski-Doo Summit 850 E-TEC Turbo was just released in January, and it only makes sense that we’d see that technology spread around more models. Fortunately, the 850 E-TEC Turbo is available in several configurations of Summit for 2021.

We also hoped to see the Expert Package upgrades available in more configurations, and that wish was granted as well. Awesome!

Here’s what’s available from the 2021 Ski-Doo Summit lineup for order this spring from BRP.

Summit X Expert Package

The Summit X Expert Package is back. Here’s what’s new for model year 2021.

Probably the biggest news, after the addition of the 850 E-TEC Turbo option, is that the Summit Expert can now be had in the 175″ track length. Also new is the option of a 154 x 2.5″ track.

Drive Belt Monitoring System: Alerts riders in two different ways, duty cycle and temperature, if drive belt issues are impending before failure. Allows rider to be proactive to prevent belt failure.

QRS Vent Plus driven clutch: Finned fixed and moving sheaves maximize airflow of the CVT system to decrease overall operating temperature and offer consistent performance.

Ultra Compact Lightweight Seat: Compact, low profile and ultra-lightweight – 25mm less height and 400g less weight than Compact Lightweight Seat. Intentionally sculpted for easier side-to-side rider movement. Weather resistant to remain dry and lightweight throughout the years.

4.5-inch digital display: All-digital LCD gauge with flatter viewing angle for an easy-to-read info center while standing.

One-piece Lightweight Hood: One-piece Polypropylene construction reduces weight by 6 lbs. Optimized for heat management and noise reduction.

850 E-TEC or 850 E-TEC Turbo

Well, you probably already know all about the 850 E-TEC Turbo. But in case you live in a cave, here’s what BRP says about the engine, which is a spring-order option for the Summit X Expert:

Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo engine: “The first-ever factory-built 2-stroke turbocharged engine in any industry. The Rotax designed and built turbo provides full 165 horsepower from the industry’s strongest 850 twin up to 8,000 feet of elevation and remains a constant 40 horsepower more above that mark compared with normally aspirated 850’s. Sophisticated design integrates flawlessly with the REV Gen4 platform for ideal balance at minimal weight. Ultra-impressive power, instant response with no lag, and factory reliability from a turbocharged 2-stroke.”

Two colour choices are available for the 2021 Ski-Doo Summit X Expert.

  • Ultimate Steel Black Metallic with panel wrap: Painted hood, supreme look and finish, maximum protection.
  • Ultimate Catalyst Gray / Lava Red / Black with panel wrap: Supreme look and finish, maximum protection.

  • Standard Limiter Strap Adjuster
  • Standard Ultra-Compact Lightweight seat
  • Standard flexible handguards
  • 175-inch track option
  • Ultimate colorations/graphics
  • Lightweight One-piece hood on 850 E-TEC

Summit X

Okay, but there’s some pretty big news for the spring-order only Summit X as well. Some of the advantages that were formerly available only on the Expert Package have trickled their way down to the Summit X. To answer your question, yes, the Summit X comes with the short tunnel.

Okay, here’s what else is new this year for the 2021 Ski-Doo Summit X.

Short Tunnel: Shorter tunnel length allows for optimal maneuverability in deep snow. Standard rear lightweight snowflap with LinQ-ready attachment points.

Lightweight ski spindle: Lightweight alloy spindle with revised geometry and new ski stopper to reduce ski drag and improve predictability in technical sidehills.

QRS Vent Plus driven clutch: Finned fixed and moving sheaves maximize airflow of the CVT system to decrease overall operating temperature and offer consistent performance.

Drive Belt Monitoring System: Alerts riders in two different ways, duty cycle and temperature, if drive belt issues are impending before failure. Allows rider to be proactive to prevent belt failure.

Compact lightweight Seat: Lower, shorter, narrower, lightweight design allows for easier rider movement on the sled. Developed with backcountry expert Carl Kuster. Improved weather resistance to preserve its lightweight characteristic.

4.5-inch digital display: All-digital LCD gauge cluster with tilted viewing angle for an easy-to-read info center whether standing or sitting.

Small diameter handle bar and grips: Tapered bar ends for improved rider comfort.

The 850 E-TEC Turbo engine is available as an option for the Summit X as well.

The colour options for the 2021 Ski-Doo Summit X are as follows:

Summit SP

2021 Ski-Doo Summit Lineup 04

The in-season Summit SP is the value proposition from BRP, but it also does get a few upgrades for model year 2021.

Track options:

  • 146 x 16 x 2.5 in. (371 x 41 x 6.3 cm)
  • 154 x 16 x 2.5/3.0 (391 x 41 x 6.3/7.6 cm)

  • 175 x 16 x 3.0 in. (445 x 41 x 7.63 cm) (850 E-TEC Only)

Lightweight ski spindle: Lightweight alloy spindle with revised geometry and new ski stopper to reduce ski drag and improve predictability in technical sidehills.

QRS Vent driven clutch (850 E-TEC only): Finned fixed sheave promotes increased airflow through the CVT system to reduce operating temperature and maintain consistent performance.

QRS driven clutch (600R E-TEC Only)

Drive Belt Monitoring System (850 E-TEC only): Alerts riders in two different ways, duty cycle and temperature, if drive belt issues are impending before failure. Allows rider to be proactive to prevent belt failure.

4.5-inch digital display: All-digital LCD gauge cluster with tilted viewing angle for an easy-to-read info center whether standing or sitting.

Small diameter handlebar and grips: Tapered bar ends for improved rider comfort.

Low handlebar strap: Lower strap height keeps it out of the way while riding or reading the gauge.

There is no 850 E-TEC Turbo option in the Summit SP, just the 850 E-TEC. However, you can order the Summit SP with the 600R E-TEC engine, which is a sweetheart in the 120 hp class.

Colour choices for the Summit SP are as follows:

  • Lava Red/Black
  • Black
