Nadine and Brodie—Avalanche Knowledge Video

Avalanche Canada ambassadors and mountain gurus Nadine Overwater and Brodie Evans made a decision after a tough season of avalanche losses in winter 2015/2016 to put together a video to help promote avalanche safety this winter.

Nadine and Brodie stop to talk about specific terrain features and key points mentioned in the Bulletin.

Riding the Revelstoke backcountry day-in and day-out, the two riders come across questionable and downright unsafe decision-making on a daily basis. The knowledge to ride safely in avalanche terrain exists but, as Nadine points in the video, it has to be spread around.

In the video, the two sponsored riders take the viewer through a safe day of decision-making and riding, all the way from their first look at the Avalanche Canada bulletin in the morning to scoping out specific terrain features and making riding decisions based on their observations there.

So, as you prepare and ease into the riding season have a thought about what steps you’ll take to stay safe in the mountains this year. If you haven’t yet, now is the time to take an avalanche course. You absolutely can’t afford to ride a day more without one. Practice your safety routine and habits, and think about each step you take forward as you move through the mountains. Stay safe and have your best season ever!
