2026 Lynx Shredder DS 3900 Turbo – Test Ride

The Mountain Sledder crew takes the 2026 Lynx DS Shredder 3900 E-tec Turbo R snowmobile on a test ride in West Yellowstone in February 2025. We only spent about 2 hours of ride time on the machine but we give our initial thoughts on the new sled and how it runs.

Teagan Dubois and Tim Grey discuss their impressions of the 2026 Lynx Shredder DS 3900 Etec Turbo R

The handle bar riser on the 2026 Lynx Shredder DS is 90 mm, which is among the shortest in the industry.

The tunnel is tapered on the 2026 Lynx Shredder DS and the heat exchanger is smaller. New scratcher placements mean that kicked up snow is more efficiently placed on the heat exchanger and cooling seems to be better than before.

The running boards on the 2026 Lynx Shredder DS are 20mm higher than the 2025 which allows for more travel before the running boards contact the snow. There is also more holes near the back bogie wheels on the running boards which means less ‘snow stick’ to the tunnel and back running board area.

Steering on the 2026 Lynx Shredder is noticeably different and it makes it easier to get on edge and to counter steer.

The skid on the 2026 Shredder DS is supposed to stay more parallel to the snow due to geometry changes and a progressive back shock. You can notice the difference to the 2025’s but you can also get the tips up if you want to…

Overall Impressions:

“Definitely I think if you’re shopping for a sled for 2026, that and you’re you’re a mountain rider, I think you got to you got to give this Shredder DS a pretty hard look. I think it deserves to have all your attention, if you can get out and demo one, maybe that’s probably the way to do it.” -TG

“Yeah, it definitely has its spot in the industry. Like we said earlier, if you’re like maybe a big sender or you’re just a bit more of an aggressive rider, this is probably the snowmobile for you. Honestly, it’s a bit heavier than the Polaris, but it’ll take the abuse.” – TD
